Monday 28th August from 11am

August Bank Holiday Monday is Show Day in Llanfechain, the day when the whole village with relatives, friends and visitors gather together for a celebration of all that is good about rural life. The Show is especially known for its focus on families with entertainment and activities throughout to provide a fun day with something for everyone. The focal point of the Show is the green area in the centre of the village where two large marquees house the competitive displays and the local art and craft sales area. There will also be many stalls and sideshows on the field, food and drink, a bouncy castle and Paul Melton, Falconer, with a display of hawks. The ‘have – a-go’ model boats brought along by the Mid Wales Model Boat Club are coming again and for the motor enthusiasts there is a classic vehicle display. Watch out around the village before Show Day for the scarecrows that will start appearing to be judged in the competitive class. The local pub alongside the field will provide refreshments throughout the day and a fabulous Show Day special menu. The entertainments start at 11am and as always includes live music featuring Teulu and Rhythm Maker. Teulu play an energetic mix of both traditional Welsh and composed folk tunes and songs laced with sparkling harmonies, and a number of lively Welsh clog dance sets. These are the tunes, songs, and dances with which the younger members of the band have grown up, and their love of the music is evident in the band's performances. Rhythm Maker with their large collection of African drums offer entertainment and workshops and anyone can have a go. Animal Man will be doing a Show and watch out for that clown. Jack Jester will be there along with his team and is sure to surprise with his ever-changing Shows which include fun, fire and fantasy. The popular Dog Show starts at 12 midday and has both pedigree and novelty classes. Please note that entries must be registered by 11.45am and normal show admission fees apply. It has just been announced that Llanfechain Show has been awarded a grant from Awards for All Wales. The grant will go a long way to help fund the exciting new activities and entertainments planned. This year’s President, Jason Kendrick-Jones, is a motorbike enthusiast and past Show Judge whose family business has supported the Show for many years. He and Sarah will be hosting the popular President’s Evening on Saturday 26th August at 7.30pm with food and entertainment.
